Can a bank have a conscience and a heart? My past experiences have left me a bit skeptical when anyone in the banking industry says that they value their clients and their community. This post shares some more recent experiences that I am happy to say have changed my opinion about financial institutions.

The Barefoot College is a non-government organization that provides basic services and solutions to problems in rural communities, with the objective of making them self-sufficient and sustainable. A recent story on NPR about their programs to train members of small rural villages in India as “Barefoot Solar Engineers” caught my interest and inspired me.
