Apricus solar hot water collectors are an exciting breakthrough in the field of solar thermal technology. Highly efficient and advanced in design, Apricus collectors capture useful solar heat even on cold winter days.
How It Works
The sun’s energy is absorbed and efficiently converted to heat with little loss due to an insulating vacuum sealed within the tubes’ double glass walls. The heat is typically absorbed by water, or a freeze resistant water mix, which can then be used to supplement residential or commercial hot water heating, space heating and even space cooling , via use of an absorption chiller or desiccant cooler technology.
The operation of the solar collector is very simple.
- Solar Absorption: Solar radiation is absorbed by the evacuated tubes and converted into heat.
- Solar Heat Transfer: Heat pipes conduct the heat from within the solar tube up to the header.
- Solar Energy Storage: Water is circulated through the header, via intermittent pump cycling. Each time the water circulates through the header the temperatures is raised by 9-18F. Throughout the day, the water in the storage tank is gradually heated.
The Apricus Advantage
Different than some other evacuated tube heat pipe designs, Apricus evacuated tubes and heat pipes are not joined or fused together. This permits the two components to move independently, allowing for building movement and the expansion and contraction that occurs daily in a solar hot water system.
And unlike flat plate collectors which are heavy and cumbersome, the lightweight Apricus collector is assembled in pieces and can be installed in just a few hours. This simple, modular design makes installation quick and easy for professionals and amateurs alike.
Apricus evacuated tube collectors are maintenance free, durable, and designed to provide years of reliable, worry-free performance.
